Symptoms of hip osteoarthritis
The disease manifests itself with frequent pain in the joint area, groin area, hip and knee joint. Also, with coxarthrosis, there is stiffness of the joint, gait disturbance, lameness, atrophy of the thigh muscles and shortening of the affected limb.
The presence of certain signs and their severity depends on the stage of coxarthrosis.
With grade 1 coxarthrosis, patients complain of periodic pain that occurs after physical exertion (running or long walking) and usually disappears after rest.
In coxarthrosis of the 2nd degree, the pain becomes more intense, often appears at rest. After significant physical exertion, the patient begins to limp. The range of motion in the joint decreases: abduction and internal rotation of the hip are limited.
Pain in coxarthrosis of the 3rd degree bothers patients not only during the day, but also at night. Walking at this stage of the disease is very difficult, during movement the patient is often forced to use a cane. The range of motion in the joint is sharply limited, the muscles of the buttocks, thighs and lower legs atrophy over time.
