Mechanism of action research

the drug Alflutop

Alflutop is a chondroprotector, the active component of which is a bioactive concentrate from small marine fish, containing chondroitin-4- and -6-sulfate in the correct ratio for cartilage, dermatan sulfate, keratan sulfate, glucuronic acid (a precursor to hyaluronic acid synthesis), amino acids, myo-inositol phosphates, glycerophospholipid compounds, macro- and microelements.

Alflutop has a pathogenetic effect in osteoarthritis: it inhibits the activity of hyaluronidase and aggrecanase, preventing the destruction of the intercellular matrix and normalizing the synthesis of hyaluronic acid and type II collagen.

Alflutop actively affects the inflammatory component of osteoarthritis: it inhibits pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-6 and IL-8) and factors responsible for the growth of osteophytes and narrowing of the joint space (VEGF - vascular endothelial growth factor), which leads to a decrease in pain, a decrease in inflammation, and regression of secondary synovitis.

EFFECT OF ALFLUTOP ON HYALURONIDASE INHIBITION1

Hyaluronidase inhibition in %

Effect of Alflutop on extracellular release of IL-62

Alflutop at 16% reduces IL-6 release2

Effect of Alflutop on extracellular release of IL82

Alflutop at 35% reduces IL-8 release2

Effect of Alflutop on extracellular release of VEGF3

Alflutop at 56% reduces VEGF release1

In clinical studies, convincing data were obtained in favor of the symptom- and structural-modifying effects of Alflutop: cancellation or significant reduction in the dose of NSAIDs taken, reduction of pain and stiffness in the joints, reduction of markers of cartilage degradation, slowing down of joint space narrowing, and significant increase in the height of articular cartilage and homogeneity of bone tissue.

Thus, Alflutop has a balanced complex effect on the key links in the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis, which gives grounds for its appointment as the main drug from the group of slow-acting symptomatic agents.
